Loading my GT-10 tones into your own GT-10

To load my GT-10 tones into your own GT-10 you must first download & install the BOSS GT-10 USB Driver & the GT-10 Librarian software located here:
http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=941

Once you have done that you can download my GT-10 patches from my links. The file you download there will be a .zip file:
GlennDeLaune_GT-10_Bundle_4-12-09.zip
YOU MUST UNZIP THE ZIP FILE, (i repeat) YOU MUST UNZIP THE ZIP FILE,
inside you will find my GT-10 patches:
GlennDeLaune_Bundle_4-12-09.mid

Now with your GT-10 connected to your computer & turned on, open the Librarian software and go to File>Import SMF...>"my .mid file". This will load the patches into the Librarian. My patches start at U10-1 so if your window is not maximized you will not see them. Maximize the window or scroll down until you see U10-1. My patches go from U10-1 to U24-4.

Once the patches are in the Librarian, go to your GT-10 and select a patch you would like to over-write. Then in the Librarian hit the "Temporary Write" button next to the patch you want to audition, this will temporarily load that patch into your GT-10. If you like it and want to keep it hit the "Write" button again and this will permanently install the patch to your GT-10.

Enjoy!

  1. Hi, I liked much of his timbre, downloaded the patches of the GT-10 and the sound was very good, but it was with a wheezing and wanted to know if is normal or not.
I tried lowering the input level to-20dB but the sound was weak.
I wonder if the wheezing is normal or not.

Thank you and sorry for mistakes because I used the google translator.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Not sure what "Wheezing: is but maybe try backing the patch volume.

  3. First thank for all the help in general, vids and patches.downloaded them and they sound great exept they are lower in volume than some of the other patches is this normal or do i just edit the patch volumes and move on?it might sound a little dumg but i don't want to change the sound by adding volume i just want them louder.Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The patches that are louder are my lead patches and they are set at the correct volume if you would be using them in a live situation. Most all of my banks are set-up in this way. I would lower the volume of the louder patches rather than bring up the volume of the lower ones.

  5. Thanks, maybe I'm creating my patchs too loud.
I've seen the mention of the "free willy" eq
settings on the gt forum. Is it something you have to manualy edit on the gt10 or is it a preset setting already programed that i can select.

    ReplyDelete
  6. You have to program it. Go to Boss GTCentral and do a search for it. You will find it.

  7. Thanx.BTW can you tell me hoe you hook up you're
rig live? I've seen your'e recomindations on amps
I think I'm going with the rolands for price reasons. So wondering what you're take on the live set-up would be as far as connections for personal and FOH monitoring would be. THANX.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I would hook the GT-10 to the Roland in stereo and then come out of the line outs into the PA. Not sure what model you are going with but the KC550 has XLR outs. If you go with a lower model you will need adapter cables to plug into the PA.

  14. Hi Glen!

First, thanx for your exelent videos to the boss GT-10!!

I bought one the other day and I have problems with Librarian. I run it USB-connected with mac OS-X and have downloaded the librarian and the usb-driver. I have done the midi setups and the usb-setups in my GT-10. (advanced). I get the sound an I can record in Logic, but I can't get te librarian running! I'm gonna use the GT-10 in the studio next week and I would love some help with this.

When I am about to "read" I'm receiven an error message from Librarian, sugesting me to check my setups etc, but I can't see what I have missed?

    Best regards /Erik, Sweden

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hi Erik, I would suggest that the Librarian you downloaded could have become corrupt. i would suggest to remove your current Librarian from you computer, download a new Librarian file and re-install the new one. That might help. Also, make sure your GT-10 is on before you start the Librarian software.

    Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Thank you very much for your qiock reply, I'll get another copy!

    /Erik

  17. Hi Glenn, i have copy your patches to U30-1 - U44-4 on my GT-10. But I can`t hear anything. The patches don`t work on my GT-10. What have I done wrong? Can you help me?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh, now it works... but the sound is very bad. the clean patches sounds nice but the distortion sounds are very dirty. a lot of reverb and noise in the background. have I wrong settings?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hmm, not sure, did you use the GT-10 Librarian software??

    ReplyDelete
  20. hi glenn nice work on your patches,, very cool...now you are my personal mr. patches man for may gt-10,,, i was wondering if you have or made patches to sound almost the same like METALLICA sound,,,CAN YOU MAKE A PATCH FOR US!!! PLEASE...cause i have an 150 wats line 6 amp piders III and have a preset that sounds like metallica, do you know something about it....

    ReplyDelete
  21. Check the Boss GT-Central patch exchange. I have a patch on there for metallica.

  25. Hey Glenn, thank you so much for your tutorials and patches!

  26. hi glenn, look,, i have a line 6 pider III 150 watts and my gt-10, and my problem is how can i get a very good sound using this amp.. how can i connects the cables, if i connect directly to the amp or use the output speakers from the back...what do you recomend me how to configurate on my gt-10 settings for that, cause i use guitar input on my line 6 amp and connected to mono/input on my gt-10 but it sounds with the amp effects too, and i put on my amp effects on clean drive and my gt-10 speaker on combo amp, but i dont like the sound of some effects and distortion, how can it sound better!!also i downloaded some metallica patches from bossgtcentral.com but sounds really bad, i think those patches are for pod 3x live, and also all these patches are some high and some low volume, what can i do to sound all like the same volume,, thanks...hope you dont get mad with all my cuestion...i think you are really good on this,,,casue you love it... thanks

    ReplyDelete
  27. glenn hi am having the same problem as I connect my gt-10 to my amp 150wts line 6,, because if I connect directly to the input of the amp tends to listen to the other effects of the same amp and I do not like, I pick apart within the amplifier configurations of my g-10's the combo amp, my question is, as it may sound better!, if I connect that way or another!! The other option would connect to the outputs of the amp back but not how to configure this option in my gt-10,,, or you may also use the presets that you have the amp that I like a lot of truth that has very good distortions that the gt-10 still have not been able to set up a similar distorcion like the line 6, you can create a distortion of a preset of the same amp and patch it so that it can get to download it, thanks glenn

  28. rrc and alfredo, you should try the 4 cable method. I'll try to put a link on my blog to that method. Or you can google it to find out more.

    ReplyDelete
  29. hi glenn this is rrc again, the 4 cable method it did not work for me cause on my amp does not have the loop return/send, and i have an line 6 spider 3 150 watts amp, i was thinking if i get the line 6 fbv express guitar footswitch can it work for me, to use some presets from my amps, do you know how can i connect the footswitch into the gt-10 or kind of save some of the presets to the footswich and cancel the gt-10, or cancel the footswitch and use the gt-10...

    ReplyDelete
  30. They are not compatible. You cannot hook up the Line6 FBV to the GT-10. The Line6 FBV uses a RJ-45 connection.

    ReplyDelete
  31. ok, thanks glenn,,, i was wondering, on your pedal board, you have 2 Boss FS5U Unlatching Footswitches, they work very good for you right!! i want to know whats the difference between the Boss FS5U Unlatching Footswitch and Boss FS5L Latching Footswitch,,, i dont understand unlatching and latching= can you explain how it works or what do you recomend for me... thanks

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi glen!!!
ALL YOUR TRACKS are really rockin!!!..and i love your playing style!!
I got a question : Boss GT in live situation sometimes my highgain patches howls when solo switch is used...is it normal? or there is any pro way to use solo switch......all i need is to boost my high gain patch from rythm to lead....

    ReplyDelete
  33. Instead of using the solos switch I use the CTL1 pedal to boost the amp level and the gain at the same time. You do this by using the Assigns section in the GT-10. Once you understand the Assigns you can program the CTl or CTL2 pedal to turn on or off 9 different things all at once.

  34. Thankz a Million Glenn!!!!!........You ROCKs!!!

    HI
HOW SHOULD I MAKE THE EQ SETTINGS?
    I AM USING A 3EMG SINGEL PU

    THANK S

    SHRAGA

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hi Shraga, global EQ settings should be made while connected to an amp. You should use the EQ or FX1 or2 Graphics EQ to EQ the guitar.

    ReplyDelete
  37. hi gleen!
i play direct to a pa system.my eq in the pa system used to be flat.(i used a rp-7 fx.
what setting do you use in the globall settings?
i think i should cut the hi eq -becuse the od sounds very bad.
    thank you!!!

  38. My global EQ settings are:
    Low Gain: -3db
    Mid Gain: 0db

    Hig Gain: 0db

  43. hi glenn great work here! i just bought both the gt 10 and the x3 live with a view to trying both out and selling the one i don't want. the thing i want to know is 1 does the x3 live have a harmoniser? 2. does the gt 10 have any free program similar to customtone on the net where yu can download replica tones users have made to popular songs etc? also can u plug a bass and a guitar into the x3 live at the same time?
    please help!
    thanks matey!!

    ben UK

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey Ben, the X3 does not have a harmonizer. The GT-10 does have a free editor called GT-10 Floorboard. The GT-10 has only 1 input so you can't do bass and guitar like you can with the X3.

  45. hello glenn..i am bhupen and i have a problem transferring ur full bundle midi patches.... after writing the patches i restarted the system then all the patches were gone then i tried to open ur patch in the librarian then it showed "End of line" on the window and can't open ur patches. i tried factory reset and reinstalled the driver and librarian and it gave the same error again. I am usiing Windows 7. please help

    ReplyDelete
  46. bhupen, have you seen my latest video on loading the tones? Please wacth it. It may help.

    ReplyDelete
  47. hello again, i have watched the video and i did follow ur steps, i found out that after writing the patch into the temporary patch i have to press write from the gt 10 floorboard but i haven't found out why i can't load midi files there is no problem with gtl files. when i try to load midi files it says cannot load this file and again when i try to load ur bundle the same problem appear "End of line". It sure was working fine. Hope you can find me a solution

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sorry you are having trouble and I wish I know what to say but I am not a MAC guy so I really don't know. You could try another program called GT-10 Floorboard. Google it and you will find it. It's like Librarian but it's better because you can actually use this software to edit the tones from your computer.

    Cheers

    ReplyDelete
  49. While I am able to download the sounds into the GT-10 I can not save them. I am following your procedures outlined in the save process buy I am unable to save. Can you help me with this issue.

    Steve

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hey Steve, just press the "write" button on the GT-10 twice to save the patch.

    Cheers,

    Glenn

  51. Dude, i'm so happy!

i was so close to selling my boss gt 10 cause to be honest it sounded really really bad. all the presets were awful, like a toy :/

I now have your patches and i can hear what this beast can do! thank you very much. I'm going to try my best to learn how to edit and make my own tones!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hey cool man. Just look around at how I have things set like EQ, FX chain etc. and things like that and you might pick up a few settings here & there that work for you. Then you can apply those settings when making your own patches.

    ReplyDelete
  53. will do man! i love your steve vai tone. so powerful! what annoyed me about alot of the presets was the thing was so trebly, like for every tone. Your tones sorted that out for me.

I wish you the best of luck with your music man, you are a stellar player

  54. Hi Glenn, im experiencing noise when i add more gain on Rfier amps on Gt10...its connected to a Roland Cube 60 with Fender american standard guitar....and when i add noise gates..there is no sustain....how can i get gud sustain without noise for a smooth warm lead solo....i'm a big fan of all your videos on youtube...specially i like to watch the LEAD TONES vids....cheers !!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. what whould be the out put i need to choose in GT10 when i use Roland cube 60 to get the best result...currently im using headphones/ Line out....im i using the correct way...plz suggest.....

    ReplyDelete
  56. Toby, I use Stack/Return output mode.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Strat's are noisy man!! There's no easy solution to this problem when using a strat. If you are near a computer monitor it makes it ten times worse. Only thing you can do there is get some noiseless pick-ups.

    ReplyDelete
  58. and how do you set ur cube's EQ and presence?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I don't have a cube. I use a Traynor Custom Special 50 tube amp.

    ReplyDelete
  60. i mean stack return output with cube and the EQ is flatted ? or its good to play with the EQ

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yes you might try the EQ and Stack/Return.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hey. I've been trying to get your patches to work on my GT-10 but for some reason there's no distortion on any of the patches and I have to turn the volume up higher than normal to hear the patch, which only gives off a clean tone. Even when I add the distortion it doesn't do anything to the sound. Help me please.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Did you watch my tutorial video and follow it exactly?? Have you downloaded all of the drivers and software as I explain??

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yeah I have and I've put other patches on my GT-10 which work just fine but for some reason when I temporarily write one of your patches, it doesn't seem to sound like it should. Does it perhaps have to do with my EQ being off or maybe there's some sort of setting I overlooked?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Not sure why that is happening. Maybe the file was corrupted. Try dling the bundle again or try one of my single patches from my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Well I tried again but for some reason nothing is happening. Whenever I load a patch, the way it's supposed to sound is there, but then it goes to this low, clean tone that won't change no matter what I do with it. It's like my GT-10 doesn't like the patch I'm putting on it, or maybe something is wrong with the cable I'm using which shouldn't be the case. I'm sorry to bother you with all this, I just really want to use the patches you made, especially the Plexi Lead and Steve Vai setting, both of which are giving me problems.

    ReplyDelete
  67. As soon as you load a patch move your volume pedal down and then up again. It sounds like something is switching off like the volume. Wish I could pin point the problem for you but I have never heard of that one. Can you dowload other patches and load them and they work or is it just with my patches??

    ReplyDelete
  68. I've tried what you suggested but it doesn't seem to work, it's still going quiet. I can load other patches onto it fine and they work, but for some reason yours seem to not agree with my system. Maybe it's because I'm using a Mac, I don't know. Thanks for the help either way, though I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to get a Steve Vai sound or tone on the GT-10.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Go to Boss GT-Central. In The GT-10 forum do a search for my name. There are several threads of people with mac's trying to open my files. You may find the answer there. Sorry you are having so muych trouble.

  70. Hi glenn..you've helped me in many situations with Boss GT10..and im using many of your patches too..now ive a serious doubt to be cleared from a professional like you...My question is , Do we get the exact tone of Boss stompboxes from Boss GT10?...im using a Roland cube 60 for gt10...ive never played using single pedals....you answer is very important for me...Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Toby, they are not exact but very close. Also you have more parameters to adjust than the real pedals. I use mostly the Blues overdrive and the Custom Warm Overdrive and I am very happy with the way they work.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hi glenn, hope you are doing great. yestarday i went for a recording..i used your Plexi lead patch for my solo...i just made a small eq change...everybody was so impressed by the tone.....thanks a lot glenn for sharing your creativity...and i've got a small request to you can we have a Slash patch from you...i got one from
www.haax.se/filesite....but not that appealing like your patches....im sure many guitarist like me are really waiting for new patches from you...and one more thing..i saw the tutorial of assign control from you...it really made my life easier....Hats off to you GLENN.

  73. Hey everyone!
I just been resarchin up and down havent been able to find answer to my question.
How many watts does the boss gt 10 has?
Im a street musician, and i just got this pedal, but in order to play with it it on the road, since it doesnt work with batteries, i need to plug it into a car battery. I need to know the watts it need to function, the transformer i got functions for no more than 30 watts, do you guys think this would be enough?
PLease if somebody can help me out with this contact me to rafitafy@gmail.com
    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  74. That's a very technical question that I do not know the answer to. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  75. hi Glenn, I'm really impressed with your work, keep it up.

I was just wondering what type of USB cable should i use to connect the GT-10 to my computer, I have tons of USB cables but none of them fit the GT-10, I'd really appreciate your help

    thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  76. It's just a standard USB cable, not the kind used for a digital camera. That's probably the kind you have that won't fit right??

    ReplyDelete
  77. Thanks for your fast response Glenn, appreciate it.

yeah ur right, the cables I had were for cameras and similar stuff, I did some research and found out it's the same USB cable used for printers.

I downloaded ur patches and they sound awesome
    Keep it up.

    ReplyDelete
  78. where can i get a patch for my gt 10 for the metallica ,nothing else matters solo ?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Try Line6 Custom Tone. They have plenty Metallica patches to download.

    ReplyDelete
  80. hey glenn please upload some patches for songs like sweet child o mine and november rain by slash and also metallica patches for individual songs.....it's a humble request to you...

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hi Glen just came across your blog and youtube tutorials - wow great stuff. You recommend the Boss FS-5U footswitch is there any particular reason why you use that as opposed to the 5L latching footswitch. Thanks for everything will be delving into your back catalogue.

    Cheers Jim (UK)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Glenn - while I think on - could you let me know whether you always use the GT10's pre-amps, speaker emulation etc or do you also use those of your tube amp.

    Thanks again

    Jim (UK)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hi Jim, the reason is that to use the L pedals (which stands for latching) don't work right with the GT-10. You have to press twice to turn the effect on or off. The 5U pedals work just like any other stomp. Press once for on and press again for off.

    Cheers,

    Glenn

    ReplyDelete
  84. Jim, I don't use any of the GT-10 preamps or speaker sims when I'm using it with my Dr. Z tube amp.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hey Glenn, is there a video of how you built your pedal board out there somewhere? I'm looking for specifics like how you attached your GT-10 and "dog house" to the case, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Peace,
    Ty

    ReplyDelete
  86. Hey Ty, I just put velcro on the bottom edge of the doghouse and it sticks to the inside bottom of the case.

    Cheers

    ReplyDelete
  87. Thanks, Glenn. Did you also use velcro to attach your GT-10 and pedals, or, is there something on the bottom of the flight case to screw into? I'm leary of using velcro for heavier equipment in case something decides to come loose in transit.
    Thanks again. Ty

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hi

Managed to download your patches into the GT10 thanks. When using them are they played through different channels on your amp? (I have a Marshall head with clean/crunch/lead channels) or do you play them through the power stage of your amp.

    Thanks Jim (UK)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hey Ty, yes I use velcro on everything in the case. I use foam in the top of the case to push down on everything when I close it up so nothing shift's in transit.

Jim, on my GT-10 patches, the ones from 1-1 thru 5-4 are used with an amp on the clean channel. All of the other are made for stereo direct recording. When using the AMP patches I set the GT-10 to Stack/Return output mode.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I can't get over the quality of the sound your getting in the Youtube videos. I was wondering, how much of that is the GT-10's sound and how much of it is the GT-10 driving the tubes?

    Thanks
    SFC Guido

    ReplyDelete
  91. Hi there and thank you, well it depends on what video you are watching but I can tell you that for most of my Youtube videos the guitar parts were recorded direct without an amp. If you see an amp in the video then yes I am using it but otherwise it's all direct to PC recordings.

    Cheers,

    Glenn

  92. Hey Glenn, I have some problems with installing the USB driver, I'm running Windows 7 32-bit and so i downloaded that version. But every time i running the Setup it tells me: "A problem may have occurred. To install the driver please execute Unistall.exe (located in the same folder as Setup.exe), and then execute Setup.exe once again."
    - Well i did that.. a bunch of times now, but nothing happens, it keeps telling me the same, so I was wondering if you could help me somehow?
    - Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Hmm, I wish I could help with that but I wouldn't know the first thing to try with Windows 7. If you know enuff about registry entries there is probably still a registry entry for the Boss USB driver. But be vary careful. If you don't know how to find it in the registry don't even attempt it.

Paul, if you don't have the USB try the Rfier Modern amp model int eh GT-10. That's the one I used for the Metallica patch.

  103. ya i downloaded his petrucci patch but cant able to transfer them....... the error message that gt-10 gives is cant read this type of file....can u help..

    ReplyDelete
  104. There is another GT-10 editor. Do a google search for GT-10 Floorboard and install the free software. It is a good editor and it should be able to import any file.

    ReplyDelete
  105. hi glenn, i want to know what does compressor, limiter do..... can u explain me in depth.......like whats attack, sustain, threshold, release??? what happens when sustain or threshold are 100%????

    ReplyDelete
  106. Here is a great explanation from a friend of mine Hadley Hockensmith:

    A Short Compression Primer:

First of all, I would highly recommend that serious GT-10 users always use the List view for editing - the knob view usually leaves out some important parameters, and you may find that you forget they are available

Attack time - This parameter determines how much of a note's attack is allowed thru before the compressor clamps down on it. A smooth sound would generally require pretty short Attack times so the transients are quickly brought under control, removing any thumpy attacks or uneveness. There are however times when you want the attacks to be bold and in your face - this is when you'll want to use longer attack settings. I usually prefer short to medium attack times for smoother tones.

Release time - This parameter determines how quickly the compressor releases it's effect after the signal starts fading down in level. I have always preferred medium to fast release times because the sound is more alive and energetic to play to. It is important to note that *extremely* short attack & release settings can cause some compressors to distort internally, which is most obvious when playing sustained chords. Some people prefer long release settings because they say it eliminates 'pumping' (the effect of a compressor that's trying to 'catch it's breath' in between notes!) , but I prefer to lower the Ratio parameter to minimize this effect.

Compression Ratio - The easiest way to imagine the way the Ratio setting affects the sound is to imagine it like a 'direct mix' control - at 1:1 all you have is a direct mix (no compression effect), and at 100:1 (also known as the infinity ratio) you have 100% compressed signal with no direct added. IMHO, every compressor should have a Ratio or Direct Mix control for fine tuning the compressor's overall effect, because it adds so much versatility to the package! For compressing my Acoustic guitars I use very low ratio settings - anywhere from 1.5:1 to 3:1, but with a low threshold setting so the compressor is almost always working, but in a very transparent way. For Electric guitars I use somewhat higher settings, but never more than 5:1, because the result becomes too flat & processed.

Threshold - This parameter determines at what level the compression circuit 'kicks in' - the lower the threshold, the more compression you get. As you lower this setting, you will also notice the overall level getting softer (this is normal), and you will need to increase the Level (also called make-up gain). I usually set the threshold pretty low so the compressor is working most of the time - to me, this makes for a more natural sound because you don't sense the compressor engaging & disengaging all the time.

Sustain - Essentially a Threshold control in reverse (higher settings create more compression), but with no need of make-up gain. This parameter is most often used with stomp compressor pedals, etc.

Tone - A handy little high frequency cut or boost built in to some compressors. I sometimes use the tone at -50 before an OD pedal or hi gain Amp to smooth out any nasty attacks, and I sometimes set it to +40 to add highs to fat, dark clean amps like the Rectifier clean.

  110. hey glenn, i recently bought my gt10 and i'm tryin yo use it with my old pedals, so i've an electro harmonix tube eq, wich one of the three conections would u recomend...

    - guitar-->tube eq-->gt 10-->amp
    - guitar-->gt 10-->tube eq-->amp
    - guitar--gt10(tube eq in loop)-->amp.

or not use the tube eq?
    Please help me....

    ReplyDelete
  111. Hey Kevin, I'd try the
    - guitar-->gt 10-->tube eq-->amp
    or
    - guitar--gt10(tube eq in loop)-->amp then move the loop around in the chain to see where it sounds best. I would suspect it would sound best right after the distortion blocks but before reverb, delay, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Thanks a lot gleen i tried: guitar->gt10(EQ in loop)->amp and moved it after the distorion, and just love the sound. Thanks for helping me.

  113. Please upload Guns and roses patch for seperate songs each....clean and distorted both..

  114. glen i put your patches in my computer but when i try to download them it sats my midi setup is set wrong i have tryed to fix with no luck any ideas

  115. Make sure your USB setting are set right. In the System.USB settings set USB to "Enabled" and "Advanced". If that doesn't work try using another editor. The GT-10 Floorboard editor is good. Google it.

  116. Hi Glen, I recently played a Marshall Guv'Nor effects and tried to adapt this nice sound to the GT-10 but after 3hrs of testing gave up. Do you or anyone else have the *.mid or the settings for this sound?
    Appreciate your experience !

    Greetings from Germany

  117. The GT-10 has an overdrive model of the Guvnor. It's called GUV DS and you can find it in the OD/DS category in the GT-10.

  118. Hey Glenn,
Your pedalboard for the GT-10, I'm sure you've been asked this a lot already on this board and I must be missing it but You built the Hinged box above the GT-10, and was wondering if you could give some tips on how you built it, dimensions, and material, etc.

I've measured it out and everything but as I think about it more and more the way I'm going about doing it seems very impractical to me now. I just want a housing area that doesn't impede access to the jacks on the back of the pedal and a where i can keep cords from bouncing all over the place.

  119. The piece I built was made out of standard shelving wood. 1/2in. thick. It has a back, sides and a top. I use velcro along the bottom edges of the back and sides to secure it to the bottom of the case and I used a standard piano hinge for the top lid and fastened the hinge to the top and back piece using 1/4in. wood screws. I think it's about 3.75in. high and it fits nicely edge to edge in that case which is a CNB-PDC4100G from Rondo Music.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Thanks Glenn, Yeah I got the case from Rondo yesterday and coincidentally stumbled on to your Youtube video BOSS GT-10 Pedal Board and saw how you constructed the doghouse frame!

Dig the new blues album, and appreciate the work you're doing both musically and instructionally with not just, but mostly lol, the GT-10 and all other Effects pedals.

I've been able to get some very smooth and full tones from my GT10 after looking at your tutorials, and recreating your patches by using the originals as walk throughs to see how you've achieved different effects.

  122. hi how do you set up your output select, system or patch? do you put reverb on all your patch? and how much level of comp do you need, sustain and attack, does it have to be level 50 or more? and how much delay time you normally use? This are some questions will help me out glenn thanks.....

    ReplyDelete
  123. My output select is set to patch. That means that every patch has different levels of reverb, delay and comp. If you download one of my patches and open it up you can see all of the other info you need.

  124. Hi Glenn. Really enjoy your music/videos. Hope you continue with your success. I am using a Rivera Amp Quiana Studio 1x12 50 watt with the the Boss GT-10 and no Pre-Amps because I enjoy the amps sound. I am also connecting the BOSS GT-10 as the four cable method. What output do you suggest to get the most out of the overdrives/distortion effects, delays, modulations etc.? GOD Bless, Denny C.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Hi Denny, nice amp. I would use Stack/Return as the output mode.

    Cheers,

    Glenn

  126. Your vids helped me select my 'new' used gear and set up fairly quick. A trainor ycv20wr already upgraded with JJ tubes, then gt-10. What a change in sound from my old gear :D

I hope you continue to make these excellent tutorials and patches. Thanks mate !

BTW, is it possible to put guitar backing tracks on my Boss Gt-10? (Newbie question)
so that I can play guitar backing tracks with my gt-10? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  129. No unfortunately you can't record backing tracks to the GT-10.

  133. I followed the directions on how to get the patches onto the gt10 and it didn't work for me. I keep getting this error saying I have to set up midi devices. This was confusing to me because no where in your instructions does it mention setting up, or plugging in a midi cable? I'm connected to the gt10 via usb. Someone please let me know where I'm going wrong? LOL. Thanks..

    ReplyDelete
  134. No you don't need a MIDI cable. Make sure the GT system setting in the MIDI is set to "Advanced" & Enable.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Excuse me. Do you have a gt 10 patch for slash?

  136. HI GLENN PLEASE HELP ME.
I HAVE THE GT 10, BUT ALSO I HAVE : AN ROCKTRON BLACK CAT WHA, AN DIGITECH WHAMMY DT AND A BANSHEE 2 TALK BOX.
HOW DO YOU RECOMEND ME TO INSTAL THE OTHER EFFECTS, THE ORDER I HAVE TO PUT THEM, I DONT KNOW IF THE SIGNAL OF TH BANSHEE WILL MAKE ME HAVE PROBLEMS PLEASE HELP ME

    ReplyDelete
  137. Cesar, I think you would just have to experiment with it. I would go guitar into the wah, then the whammy then into the gt-10 and I would put the banshee in the GT-10 fx loop.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Hi Glenn. I use the same type of gear that you use.
My main problem is that i want to figure it out how to use my distortion, that i use between gt send to amp input, without having to press the distortion pedal to activate it, but doing that in the GT 10.
    Thank you.

  139. how do i add Metal Muff with Boss GT-10.What is the best way to use Metal Muff distortion through Boss Gt-10

    ReplyDelete
  140. Hey Glenn! Appreciate all you do for the community! Just picked up a fender 212r front man....I know, cheap amp but it sounds good for what I do! Would you recommend the 4cable method with this amp or two? I also have a wah, talkbox , and ep booster before the gt10, is this a decent order? Lastly, if I use the four cable method, how do I go about moving it in the chain? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Hi Glen, Hoping you can help me out. I've seemed to misplaced my usb connection wire for my GT-10. I'm interested in adding a couple of your patches, (1. Steve Vai and 2. Joe Satch Patches). Was curious if there would be any way you could email or post the settings so I could enter them myself manually. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any and all help you may be able to provide.

  142. Glen, I downloaded your bundle but "amp only" patches don't show up in the GT Librarian. Any suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  143. Well...it seems all I had to do was download the zip again. All's well now. Can't wait to try them out Glen!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Glen, or anyone out there using his "Amp Only" patches (U1/1 - U7/4): With all the EQ on the patches at various points in the FX chain, would it be best to set my amp's tone stack flat? ie., Treble:5 Bass:5 Mid:5, no graphic. (Mesa Boogie Mk IIc)

    ReplyDelete
  145. Yes set your amp flat. Better yet go into the FX loop of your amp if you have one. Sorry but I don't check my blog too much anymore. Better to look me up on Youtube and send me a message there OK

    ReplyDelete
  146. All "Amp-Only" patches are set up with the S/R control switched on and located at the beginning of the chain. For my setup (4CM into Mesa Mk IIc), this sounded pretty horrible. I moved the S/R towards the end, just before the ambient effects, turned down the Patch Levels and adjusted the Comp/Limits a bit, and there it was...Grail Tone! Thanks Glen :-)

    ReplyDelete
  147. Hi Glen! I follow your YT video and learn about the 4cmt, wich help me to keep my GT-10. Your video about the marshall and the 4cmt sound ansome. But even if it better since, there'S always a ``digital process`` sound that do not reflect the natural amp sound. 'cause my amp do sound great with only an MXR EQ, but less great with the GT-1o. Don't get me wrong, I do love the fx and all the simple use of the GT-10 but ...still questionning if I keep it, or get back to the analog pedal(wich I do hate the step dancing). Thanks for your help dear friend!

  148. Hi Glen! for some reason im unable to transfer your patches using windows 10...i used to transfer with windows 8. now it asks me download the usb driver which i am unable to find. please advise

    ReplyDelete
  149. You need to get the driver from the Boss/Roland site.
