New Patch download Area

Hey guys, it's been a while since I posted I know. I've been real busy making videos and playing & things like that. Anyway, I have a new Patch Download Area web page. If you look to the right panel under links you will see it. It not only has my best individual patches from all my Youtube vids but also my entire bundle from my GT-10, X3-Live & XT-Live. I even did some audio samples so you can hear what each patch sounds like before you download it. There are detailed instructions on importing the patches into your Boss or Line6 units. I just put the page up so if any of you have any problems with it please let me know so i can sort them out.

Talk to ya soon, :)

Glenn

  1. Hi Glenn,

    This patches are crazy awesome!

May i check, the sample tat u recorded is via the 1/4" L and R from GT10 to the AI? or USB/Phones/Digital Out to the AI?

    Tx!

  2. Those were all recorded L&R output of the GT-10 and X3-Live and XT-Live.

  3. Hey Glenn,

Great work! I have a newbie question on compression. I love your patches but some of the higher gain patches sound better to me with the compression turned off, not as much noise when not playing. I notice you use comptession on most of your patches, so I figure there's something I'm missing.
Thanks for the input. Loving the videos, beautiful work!

  4. Hey Ronny, I just like the way it sounds with the compression and I also have lots more headroom with it on. I don't get any noise though when not playing. I guess it's my pick-ups. IDK. Just turn down the level a bit if it's too noisey.

  5. Thanks Glenn,

Let me ask this another way. Take for example a couple of the GT10 presets P05-1 (Delayed Twin) and P03-3 (Stereo HiGain). With the volume off on guitar and the volume pedal fully engaged there is a lot of hiss or background noise in the HiGain patch. This is what I hear when compressors are on also. Is there a way to compensate for this and clean up the higher gain patches? I run direct to PA and always have to remember to roll the volume pedal back between songs, much like I've seen you do with your guitar volume control in your videos at the end of a sound demo.

    Thanks for advice.
    Ronny S.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Those are factory patches. I'm not sure about the delayed twin but the Stereo High Gain has waay too much gain. That is what is causing that noise. It's the way Boss programmed that patch. I don't know why they have those patches like that. I always start from scratch when I make a patch. I don't think you can do anything about that noise on those patches.

    ReplyDelete
  7. So it sounds like it's a gain issue then. A similar comparison could be between two of my favorite patches of yours, the Country Lead and the Plexi Lead. The country lead is cleaner of course and the plexi lead has more of what I'm calling the background noise. Turning off the compressor seems to clean it up quite a bit. I see you have the noise suppressors after the A&B preamps, maybe I can make adjustments to NS1&2. I love the sound of the high gain passages and I'm just trying to learn how to tweak them.

    Thanks for the kind reply.

  8. Glenn,
    I saw one of your videos that shows the GT-10 in a Flight Case, I read a comment on that video where you indicated the model of the case was;

    CNB PDC-4100E Flight Pedal Case

As i really like your setup and I want to buy the same case...That model number at Rondo Music indicates the dimesions as:

    27" Long x 11 3/4" Wide x 4 1/4" Deep

The GT-10 is 10 1/4" Wide itself...and it's clear from the video that your "Doghouse" is more than a 1/2" wide.

Can you give me the dimensions of your case?? I would really appreciate it.

    Eddie Engledow
    eengledow@cox.net

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hey Eddie, I'm sorry, the one I have is actually the CNB PDC 4100G the dimensions are
    29.5 x 15.75 x 5.5

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thanx Glenn,
If it's not to much of a hassle..would you share how you made the "Doghouse"??

    Eddie

  11. Hey Eddie, I went to the hardware store and I got some standard shelving wood and a long hindge and some screws. I then measured all the pieces I needed for the top, back and both sides. I cut all of the pieces with a standard crosscut saw, made sure they all fit together nicely. Then I drilled all of the holes for the hindge and all of the screw holes that would hold it all together. I then covered all of the wood with black vinyl sticker material and then I screwed everything together.

  12. Hey Glenn,

I figured out my background noise issue. I run a Line 6 DL4 in the S/R loop. Turns out the power supply for it was too close to the guitar input side of the GT10. I moved it away from there and no noise! I was chasing down the wrong path. Just thought I'd let you know in case someone else has a similar issue.

    Thanks!
    Ronny S.

  14. Hey Glenn:

Downloaded all your patches from your new download area. Thanks for takling the time to make the preview mp3's. I used them for the first time live with my band in a practice session and I was wondering, are they in the order in which you group them on your GT-10 when you play live or are they in a different order? I find that your vintage patches work really well with my fender bassman setup and my strat, but your lead patches I like are on a different bank and are not easy to switch to. I know I can change that but just wondering how you use the groupings as they are.

  15. Dear Glenn,

I have to congratulate you for the video on youtube : what a great job ! I saw them because I'm looking for multi-effects pedal and a have a question for you : which of the pod or the gt10 do you prefer ? I'm sure you will give me a good advice.
    Best regards from France.

  16. Hi Glenn,
Really enjoy your videos and website. Thanks for all the hard work and effort that you put into it, I love your patches and the Free to Fly song. I'm hopeful that you could answer a couple of questions regarding your G-10 set up. I notice you use boss 5u (unlatching switches) and not the boss 5L (latching switch)for your switches 3 & 4...is there a reason for that? Also how do i hook up my sacherator,& eq up to the Boss GT-10 the same way you did in your video...I can't seem to get mine to work with the boss even though I hooked it up to the send/return loop...can you help me out? Thank you...God Bless Kurt from Idaho

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey Mike D, Yes they are in the order I use for live. You know you can "exchange" patch locations. Hit the write button then hit the right arrow on the dial next to the screen and you will see "exchange".

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hey Kurt, the reason I have the 5U's is because I already had them before I bought the GT-10 and they worked so I use them. About the EQ & Satchurator, You have them hooked up in the loop but you have to turn the S/R loop on. If you go to the Master Pedal/FX menu, scroll until you see the S/R function and enable it. Also in the FX chain make sure the loop is before the pre-amps.

  19. Hi Glenn
I've really been enying your videos on the Pod X3 Live and I am a bassist! I was hoping you would be able to make some "bass related" videos or share some settings using the Pod X3. I'm sure the rest of the bass playing world would enjoy it as well!
Take care and keep up the great work!

  20. Hey :) I have an cheap ibanez guitar which I bought a year ago. When I play on it with some metal distortion I get this creepy hollow sound. If thats the right way to describe it. I also have a cheap morgan les paul, but it sounds awesome compared to the ibanez. Both guitars have humbuckers.

Do you have any tips on how to tweak it right or do think the guitar Henrik, Norway ;)

Great videos on youtube by the way !

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey Henrik, I think it's the guitar pick-ups in the Ibanez.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi Glenn great stuff/work on all your vids!! I am doubting to buy a X3 myself but also have seen some impressive stuff Axe Fx Ultra demo's on YouTube. I am aiming for the edge sort of playing. Did you do any comparison with the Axe Fx? Whats your opinion? Any hints or tips is more than welcome! Cheers Marc

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hey Marc, no I have not got my hands on the Axe FX but you need to check out the Eleven Rack from Digidesign. This seems to be the next big thing and it is cheaper than the Axe FX Ultra.

  24. hi glenn, thank you for your great patches!
i have one problem, i cant open the 'enitire X3 bundel'. the description says i need to change the .zip into .x3m, but when i download it it already sas .x3m and it wont open with winrar...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi there, the description says to REMOVE the ".zip" from the end of the file. Do this by renaming the file. Once you do this it should open in Gearbox.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi Glenn,
Thank you for sharing your Boss patches. Admittedly and ashamedly, I have been relying on pre-sets mainly since I bought the GT-10 because my 'tweaks' sound terrible and I haven't had enough time to spend monkeying with it. You saved me a lot of time. I play an LP and a PRS and your patches sound great - thank you!! Love your playing style as well.

    God bless,
    FJ Fortner

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hey you're welcome FJ. Man I'd love to hear what my patches sound like with that LP. That is one guitar that I don't have yet.

    ReplyDelete
  28. hi, to come back to opening the zip file:

when i download the enitire bundle the name sas:glendelaunebundle_9-14-09.x3m(without changing anything)
but when i try to open it i get an error massage from winrar saying the file: glendelaunebundle_9-14-09.x3m.ZIP is damaged.
then when i try to chenge the name the file doesn't end at .zip but at .x3m

    are you still following? ;)
when i try to change the name the file ends at .x3m, but when i try to open it it ends at .x3m.zip

wat should i do to open it?

    thanks,

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sorry you are having problems. I just downloaded the file from here. It is just as I describe. The file ends in the .zip. You must rename the file before you do anything. Take the ".zip" off of the end of the downloaded file. then you can open it in Gearbox. There is no need to use Winrar for anything.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi Glenn, your download area is hi-jacked i think.

it,s a pity, but keep up the good works.

    Keep on rockin.

  31. Yes, bare with me on that. It should be back up soon.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hey Glenn,
Sorry didn't know if you missed my post on bass specific videos or patches for the X3? I think it would be great if you had the time.
    Thanks,
    Brent

  33. Hi Glenn,
The LP (Supreme) sounds great, particularly with your Plexi Lead and Marshall tones... When I'm 1/2 as good as you (someday maybe) I'll shoot you a video or something so you can hear how your patches actually sound :) I'm currently using an Egnater Rebel /212 setup for an amp. Very cool amp btw. One question... probably a stupid one. In some of your videos you use just the GT-10, which is all I'm using right now, but in others, you add in the Bad Monkey or Satchurator. I'm curious what they give you that the GT-10 doesn't. Can you explain?

    Thanks,
    FJ Fortner

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hey FJ, I use the external pedals for different levels of boost or just an added distortion. I only kick them in on a lead if I need a little extra boost. The sounds of the pedals are a little different than the GT-10 so it adds a little something extra..

Hey Brent, I actually use the X3 for my bass recording. Honstley the bass patches that come stock in the X3 are great. I use the Detroit preset.

    Cheers,

    Glenn

  35. Hello, thx for sharing your exp. in effects and programming eperience.I see in your vid's that you combine 2 patch together and was wondering is this for fullness effect?

Also are there a good place to learn effect teq. For dist,eq,chours and so forth
in trying to achive other guitarist tone's

    it all seem's rather complicated : )

    thx again

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, it is for getting a thick tone. The only way I know of learning how to program tones is by actually doing it. Just spend some time with it. You'll learn. Once you get the hang of it it's not hard at all.

    ReplyDelete
  37. hey glenn nice vid's what kind of pickups you got in your silver prs? does your live setup with the
lin6 sound the same as your recorded sound?o yea you are in the review's on musician's friend on the line 6 pedal.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Glenn, your Marshshall Plexi patch from bank 18 sounds amazing as a rhythm channel with the LP. Also the vintage crunch and plexi lead. Those are my 3 favs. Thank you again!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi, my PRS has Custom #6 Zebra bobbin Pick-ups with a coil tap pull switch. They only made 200 of these guitars. I was lucky enuff' to snag one.Yeah I saw that on Musician's friend, Cool LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. hi nice blog.lots of info.i read on here that you run your line6 or bossgt through more routing before recording.do you tweak them even more through software and routing hardware?

just asking if the tones are even further
    enhanced.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well, good question!! I run my final output through a Harmonic Converger. Google it!!! IMHO, my patches sound good without the HC but this device adds something special to the "digital" sound. It kinda makes it sound not so digital ya know??

  45. Hi Glenn,

I really love your GT-10 patches! And the moment I saw your guitar setup I immediately ordered the Satchurator and Equalizer. The problem is how to connect them to the S/R of my GT-10? Which one should come first and which one should be next?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hey Glenn,
Your tutorials on YouTube are the bomb. Any chance of a David Gilmour patch? Thanks for all your hard work

    ReplyDelete
  47. Eric, I have my pedals in the GT-10 S/R loop. I go out of the loop into the Boss-EQ7 > Digitech Bad Monkey > Vox Satchurator> back into the GT-10 S/R return. The next thing is make sure the S/R loop is before the pre-amps in the GT-10. Do this by going into the Pedal/FX menu and moving the S/R block before the pre-amps.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hey thanks DanoWorks, I have been contemplating doing a Gilmour Demo video. Soon I hope!! Thanks for your support. :)

  50. Hey Glenn,
Incredible ear that you have and playing. Can you find it in your heart to create a Allan Holdsworth patch for the X3 live
    Dave Percell

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hey Dave thanks, I already have Holdsworth patches in my X3L bundle. You can download them and check them out. I'm also a huge fan of Allan's. The patches I have were made to sound like Allan's work with JLP Enigmatic Ocen album from 1977. Good stuff!!

  52. Hi Glenn,

I have downloaded your patches and wondering what is the best way to setup the input level on the Boss GT10? By that i mean input on the meter go to 70% or more/less to allow your sounds to be fully appreciated?
I would really appreciate any help as i am a bit of a pedal retard and didn't even realise there was an input level meter(i suppose not reading the manual doesn't help!! haha)from what i read the Input level setting is Very important to how you will sound, aswell as patch levelling and level.
I thank you for the time in answering my question and look forward to your answer.

    Thanks

    Vince(UK)

Awesome vids by the way and loving the Guitars!! \m/

  54. Hi Glenn, Im from Mexico, first of all, thanks for such amazing videos.
    My Equipment:
    1.GT10
    2.Fender DeVille 212
3.Ibanez Prestige S5470 FVRK with factory pickups (H-S-H)

I have few questions, i make all my effects at a low volume (in my bedroom), but when i play live, i have to crank up the volume on my GT10 Output Level, the effects sound brighter to the point that they are kind of annoying (treble boosts a lot), they also tend to sound dirtier, i suppose due to the 6L6 tubes, anny recommendation? the other question is, the knobs in my amp (Bass, Middle, Treble) are all in 5m the Outpur Select in my gt10 es JC-120, and the Input/Output EQ is Factory Preset, What knoob chanfes do you recommend, I let my ear be the judge, but i cant get a sound like yours using your presets. (i use the 4 cable method also).

Finally, i like the sound of Petrucci, Gutrie Govan, Glenn DeLaune:), what pick ups do you recommend me?

Thanks for beeing such a "sound" inspiration

    ReplyDelete
  55. You should be making your patches at gig volume not bedroom volume. That is the only way to get the settings right. As far as pick-ups go you should try the DiMarzio Fred. They are very smooth but can also get dirty if you want.

  56. i do own a jackson jsut like urs but tis black with flame top,,,now did u change ur bridge pickups on urs or is it stock? mine has the Seymour Duncan JB TB4 humbucker but that bridge souds like the neck and no louder than the neck pickup,, and i am at the point to change the beidge pickup out to an evo 2 for the bridge pickups,,,i honestly think there is somehting wrong wiht the tone knob not letting any highs thru,, it soudns like its so ahrd get the horminic out of it,,now my cheap RG370DXGP4 sounds way better than the jackson,,,odd eh?
i do also own a ibanez jem dkb and jem7 vhw. i bought the jackson cause it has the sustainor in it,,awsome videos i used to own the gt-10 but i liked the digitech 1101 and rp1000 better,,u should mess with one :)

  57. HI glen I dig your knowledge on multi efx systems well and your stellar playing. I am currently in the market for a multi efx system. I have read a lot on your blog and noticed you originally were using a keyboard amp to drive your sound. I see in your vids you have changed to a tube amp. I am wondering how the connection between your gt10 to your amps has changed between the Keyboard amp and the tube amp. My situation is somewhat similar I have an old tube amp that sounds amazing. But alas has no effects loop built in. So the four cable method is not an option. So my curiousity is peaked because I hear if you just connect it straight in from gt10 to amp input you lose quality of sound. Your advice is highly appreciated.

    Thanks
    ~ Darren t

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hey Darren, the only difference in the connection between my tube amp and the keyboard amp is that with the keyboard amp I was going GT-10 stereo out into the keyboard amp. With the tube amp I am going Left/Mono out of the GT-10 right into the front of the amp. My output mode on the GT-10 is the same, Line/Phones. I did however have to create a new set of patches. I have no loss of tone or quality at all. If you see my latest video you will hear that the tone is strong and full.
