Hi glenn! how are you? I hope you´re fine and rocking! I´m really impressed about your songs particularely "play no words" "changing seasons" "open mind" they´re very nice,I like the harmony that you use in them, that modal interchanges are wow! "oh my god! "fusion III" has the groove! like the way you play a lot! my favourite style is jazz-funk, but I love to rock! Otherwise I think you´re a great musician and producer really! I like your songs and the way you play and make your tones. I´m a pod x3 live owner and I was wondering if you can help me to get the Andy Timmons alike lead tone. I´ve been trying and trying but it does´nt seem to me to be close to get it :( I know that I don´t have the same gear as him, but I know that I can make something alike jeje, I have a fender hot rod deluxe amp, fender roadhouse deluxe strat guitar, variax 300 guitar, and my pod x3 live, hope you can help me. sorry I forgot, Does line 6 edit works with pod x3 live? I have problems with that :( Sincerlly I like your music a lot, it makes me feel great sensations! that why I love music,I hope we can be friends, music is the universal languaje. Peace sincerelly, Deivid
P.S. this is my band if you want to hear the music We play, maybe you won´t like it or maybe yes, jeje www.myspace.com/modhular my e-mail :rockpoweraleton@hotmai.com
Hey Deivid, thanks for the comments on my music. I appreciate it. Man I checked out your band!! Very good!! Looks like you guys are on a Major label. Congratulations. I don't think most people understand the hard work it takes to score a record contract.
You need to use Line6 Gearbox for the X3-Live not Line6 Edit. For an Andy Timmons tone I would try the Plexi models and the red comp. He has a very complex sound but you might be able to come close with the X3L. I thought your guitar sounds on your music sounded great BTW.
Thanks a lot Glenn! I really appreciate that you answer my comment je! And thank you for taking the time to listen to my band, your comments are so good and important to us.We have more songs, I wish I could show them to you, but they´re still not ready, (mixing and mastering) but I really want to show them to you, they are more powerfull and rocking! je. Thanks for your tip about the andy timmons tone, I will try it right now jeje!
Hey Glen, I have been watching your vids for quite sometime now, and your playing has greatly inspired me on my musical journey. So here's the situation. I am running my Pod X3 Live into my Crate V50 tube amp. When I run the four-cable method, no matter what I do, it always bypasses the PreAmp. Do you know why it would do that? I mean, the amp modeling sounds fine, but I have none of the amps (feel) in it.
That's because the effect loop is located after the preamp section in the amp. If you want to have the preamp feel of the amp you'll have to go right into the front of the amp. You'll probably have to re-work your patches to run this way.
Then any delay (for example) is then going to get distorted by the preamp in your amp. Maybe that's the sound you want, but generally you want delayed distortion, not distorted delay.
So, the 4CMmethod is:
Cable 1: Guitar output > Boss or Line6 device Input Cable 2: Boss or Line6 device effect loop send > amp input Cable 3: Amp effect loop send > Boss or Line6 device effect loop return Cable 4: Boss or Line6 device output > amp effect loop return
This gives you a proper signal path:
Guitar > Boss or Line6 device > amp preamp > Boss or Line6 device > amp power amp
The send receive in your Boss or Line6 device effects path should be AFTER your comp/distortion/amp sims and BEFORE your chorous/delay/reverb effects.
Note that you can still put external pedals in the right places - i.e. real wah pedal before the Boss or Line6 device input or a distortion stomp box before the amp input and other effects processors in the loop before/after the Boss or Line6 device.
Hi glenn! how are you? I hope you´re fine and rocking!
