Just a note to thank you for buying my CD's and iTunes downloads. I really appreciate it!! I am now offering single song MP3 downloads because I know lots of people don't have an iTunes account. Including Me!! LOL... So, if you find my tones and videos useful please consider checking out my original music as well and maybe purchasing a song or two to help keep things going.

You're not just the tipicall youtube freak who spend all theyr money on sound toys just to show how rich they are. You are a great musician first, and then an awesome sound producer.. Here you have a fan from spain ,)
Hi Glenn Really like your music and how you show us all what can be done with both Boss and Line6's products. Not to mention showing what can be done on the guitar! I'm into just about the same area of music that can be found on your cds and I have/are using both a GT-6 and a XTLive. Howerver I'm thinking about upgrading one of the units. Do you have a favorite of the 2 that you would recommend for "your" type of music? Many regards, Olle in Sweden
Hey Olle, The Xt-Live is a great unit. I used mine for about a year. If you are thinking about upgrading and you like to play the type of music in my recordings then I have to suggest the Boss GT-10. It is way more advanced than either the GT-10 or POD XT-Live.
Glenn, I just made the discovery of your blog spot and downloaded your GT-10 settings. Very cool. I've had my GT-10 for about a year and have enjoyed it a bunch. I really like the tone your getting your your rig. If I come close I'll be a happy camper. Blessings Scott
Glen, I have an American Standard Strat that it sounds nice when recorded direct, but it seems too thin live. I normally run the tone knob at 5 or 6 to try and "thicken" the sound a bit but it's still wimpy. My go to ax is a Korean built Tele with DiMarzio humbuckers, set neck and mahogany body and neck, kind of a poor mans Les Paul. I can get nice tone from it with the GT-10 but I struggle with the Strat. Any advice? Thanks Scott
Hey Scott, yeah, I have humbuckers at the bridge in all of my strats. It's the only way to have a good fat lead tone. I would drop a JB JR. or something like that in the bridge slot.
Hi Glenn, Thank you for enlightening us with your knowledge of the Boss GT-10. It's a pretty nifty machine. I enjoyed your Youtube movies as well, knowing that your guitar is also a PRS Custom, like mine. So now I know what to expect of the sounds. I do have 1 question Glenn. I hope you don't mind. When I go on stage, can I directly plug the GT-10 into the mixing board ? We all play with in-ear monitor systems, so the "noise" is at a very low level on stage. Perfect ! At the moment, I still have the Roland GP-100, which actually belongs in a museum right now, hahaha. So I was looking at some new effect material, and like the Boss GT-10 very much. Ok Glenn. Thank you for your time, and I am looking forward to your new "teaching" instructions, sound samples etc. Cheers !! Bastiaan from the Netherlands.
Hi Bastiaan, actually the GT-10 is great for running direct to PA. In fact, you can download all of my patches and most of them are already set up for direct to PA use.
Ooo .. great ! Yes, I already downed your zipfile with all the patches. Now I have to find out how to put them into the GT-10. (Only have the GT-10 for 4 days now, haha). But I already saw a nice tutorial/explaination on your website. Thanks again Glenn. Cheers, Bastiaan.
My car was stolen with all my gear in it, but you know what, it doesn't matter. You're a ray of light at the end of days. I'm glad you're a Christian.
I've replaced all my stolen gear, and I got the GT-10 to replace my old GT-8. My car has been recovered, although damaged. We place too much value on material things, knowing we cannot take it with us when we die. You're a great musician, I love your work, and you seem like a really good person too.
Then any delay (for example) is then going to get distorted by the preamp in your amp. Maybe that's the sound you want, but generally you want delayed distortion, not distorted delay.
So, the 4CMmethod is:
Cable 1: Guitar output > Boss or Line6 device Input Cable 2: Boss or Line6 device effect loop send > amp input Cable 3: Amp effect loop send > Boss or Line6 device effect loop return Cable 4: Boss or Line6 device output > amp effect loop return
This gives you a proper signal path:
Guitar > Boss or Line6 device > amp preamp > Boss or Line6 device > amp power amp
The send receive in your Boss or Line6 device effects path should be AFTER your comp/distortion/amp sims and BEFORE your chorous/delay/reverb effects.
Note that you can still put external pedals in the right places - i.e. real wah pedal before the Boss or Line6 device input or a distortion stomp box before the amp input and other effects processors in the loop before/after the Boss or Line6 device.
Hey Glen

Hi Glenn, sorry to bother you with a rather silly question this time.
ReplyDeleteHow did you mount the "doghouse" to your case ?
Also with Velcro ?
Thanks again Glenn,

Hi Bastiaan, yes I used Velcro.
